Bring business disruption and new marine experience to the world
Meet Our Team

CATwas founded out of a critical need to address the adverse impacts of marine ecosystem, a void in the market for effective antifouling coating, and with the goal of using the power of science to create sustainability while maintaining the luxury quality of life.
As an undergraduate, CEO, co-founder Annie Wong chose solar remediation of endocrine disrupting chemicals as her final year project. She was very keen to the innovation of photocatalyst technology with its potential in extensive applications. Her school professor, Prof. Michael Leung (Chief Scientist, co-founder) is the expert in solar photocatalysis with more than 20 years of experience in relevant R&D. He and his research team created a new breakthrough antifouling and anticorrosion technology: Nano-MAP (Nano Marine Antifouling/ Anticorrosion Paint), the technology now widely adopted by Hong Kong Government and shipyards. The product development has also involved a joint collaboration with the University of Hong Kong, led by Prof. Dennis Leung.

Seeing the success of photocatalyst technology in a pilot school-government project, and experiencing the effectiveness of the technology herself, Keda Chen was also inspired to share Nano-MAP technology with the world. Together, the pair of CityU-educated engineers co-launched CAT in 2022. Now they are on a mission to harness the power of science to improve lives and solve some of the world’s greatest problems, beginning with marine pollution.

This is how CAT begins.
